The 2006 Stand On A Better World Award recipients were honored at a dinner event held at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia on November 16, 2006.

Keynote speakers included former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, who presented the environmental category award; and figure skating icon Dorothy Hamill who presented the economic category award.

In her presentation, Governor Whitman called environmental category recipient Ritu Primlani "a young woman who wanted to make a difference, and she has done exactly that" and praised all women nominated for a Stand On A Better World Award, saying "never doubt the difference one individual can make."

Dorothy Hamill charmed the group with her heartfelt words about economic category recipient Dana Dakin. "I'm humbled to be in the presence of such greatness" she remarked.

Last year's grand prize recipient, Deborah Bell, presented this year's grand prize to social category recipient Olga Murray. During her speech, she noted a quote from Thomas Payne, "My country is the world and all mankind are my brethren. Through the Stand On A Better World Awards program, the people at Mannington Mills have exemplified this, making the world their community and all of mankind their neighbors." She also noted something that Ben Franklin had mentioned in his speech to the group earlier, that "'leisure is a time for doing something useful' and Olga has certainly lived that."
