Carol Kane

While volunteering at a homeless and domestic violence shelter, Carol Kane realized a need for a place that provided free furniture and other household necessities to people who were starting over. Founded by Carol in 1984, the Mustard Seed provides these necessities. Initially, Carol stored donated items in her garage, but the Mustard Seed quickly outgrew the space and has grown to a network of 70 “furniture banks” located throughout the country. Presently, The Mustard Seed furnishes 100 homes and clothes 100 families per month. Moved to do something, Carol’s organization, the Mustard Seed give the less fortunate the extra help they need to start over and realize their potential.
