Signing Time Foundation is Rachel Coleman’s labor of love for families of the hearing impaired. Driven by a need to help her two children communicate (one is hearing impaired, the other has spina bifida and cerebral palsy), and encouraged by her sister, she created and produced sign language videos geared toward children. These videos help non hearing impaired children learn how to communicate with the hearing impaired.
In the beginning, Signing Time videos were distributed to family and friends. Today, these videos are a godsend to families across the nation. Thirteen different videos series have been produced, along with flash cards, board books, and a forum that allows families to discuss life events. Recently, PBS channels across the country began airing a series based on the videos. To learn more about Signing Time Foundation, visit www.signingtimefoundation.org.Vote for this nominee Back to Top
